NSK 308L-17 is a type of stainless-steel welding electrode.
- AISI 308L stainless steel, commonly used for welding 304/304L stainless steel.
- “L” means low carbon, which helps reduce the risk of corrosion at the weld area.
- E308L-17 – the “-17” describes the electrode coating(Rutile/silica type) and welding characteristics under the AWS classification.
- for welding 18%Cr-8Ni Stainless Steel Grade 301/302/304/308 Excellent arc stability and low splatter levels All positional (except vertical down) Easy slag removal
- Sizes:G12 (2.6 mm)/G10 (3.2 mm) /G8 (4.0 mm)

Welding characteristics
E308L-17 is a rutile-type, AC/DC+ electrode with relatively easy arc starting and a smooth, stable arc. It generally produces a clean-looking bead and is suitable for positional welding.
NSK 308L-17 is suitable for welding:
- Stainless-steel tanks and vessels
- Pipes and fittings
- Kitchen/food-processing equipment
- 304 and 304L stainless-steel fabrication
- General stainless-steel repair and fabrication
